Abstract:

To predict the identity STYLES based on ATTACHMENT STYLES, the researchers carried out a descriptive study of correlation kind. 130 college students from Bu-Ali Sina University were chosen randomly through multistage cluster sampling. The ATTACHMENT STYLES were evaluated by Hazan & shaver Adult ATTACHMENT Scale (AAS) while the identity STYLES were assessed by berzonsky identity style inventory. The findings of this study showed that there is a significant relationship between ATTACHMENT STYLES and identity STYLES. The same is true between gender and identity STYLES. No significant relationship was found between gender and ATTACHMENT STYLES. There was a significant and positive relationship between secure ATTACHMENT style and informative identity style. In addition, a significant and negative relationship was found between secure ATTACHMENT style and normative identity. The same is true for secure ATTACHMENT style and normative identity style, and between secure ATTACHMENT style and diffusion/ avoidant identity style. It is worth mentioning that secure ATTACHMENT style has the potentiality to predict informative identity style. These findings highlight the basic and dynamic role of child-mother’s first affective bonds quality in formation, settlement and continuation of fundamental trust, affiliation, exploration, experience training, power of problem solving, and especially identity.

Abstract:

The relation between ATTACHMENT STYLES and alexithymia were investigated in a sample of students. A correlational analysis was performed to assess the kind of association existing among ATTACHMENT STYLES (secure, avoidant, and ambivalent), with alexithymia and its three components which include difficulty identifying feelings, difficulty describing feelings, and externally oriented thinking. Three hundred and six students (136 male, 170 female) from the University of Tehran participated in the study. All participants were asked to complete the Adult ATTACHMENT Inventory (AAI) and Farsi version of the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (FTAS-20). Data analysis involved both descriptive and inferential statistics including mean, standard deviation, multivariate analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and regression analysis. Secure ATTACHMENT style showed a significant negative association with alexithymia, while insecure ATTACHMENT STYLES showed significant positive association with alexithymia. Results of regression analysis also revealed that avoidant ATTACHMENT style can predict changes of difficulty describing feelings, while ambivalent ATTACHMENT style Could predict difficulty identifying feelings and externally oriented thinking. It can be concluded that ATTACHMENT STYLES are associated with alexithymia and its components. Results and implications are discussed.

Abstract:

Marital satisfaction and, elated concepts are studied more then any other concepts in psychology. This research was also designed for evaluating the relationship between ATTACHMENT STYLES and marital satisfaction. The main purpose was finding one of effective factors on marital satisfaction to reduce the rate of divorce. One hundred male and female married students and their spouses from Āzād University responded to Hazan and Shaver's ATTACHMENT style and Olson's ENRICH inventories. Results revealed that between Anxious-Ambivalent ATTACHMENT STYLES and marital satisfaction was negatively correlated, whereas the correlation between secure ATTACHMENT and avoidant ATTACHMENT were not found correlated. These results confirmed the necessity of psychological interventions before and throughout the marital life.

Abstract:

The relationship between emotional intelligence and ATTACHMENT STYLES was studied. Two-hundred and sixty two female (mean age 21) and 238 male (mean age 22) university students responded to the Bar-On Emotional Quotient Inventory (1997) and the ATTACHMENT Style Questionnaire (Hazan & Shaver, 1987). The results indicated that among both genders, emotional intelligence was positively correlated with secure ATTACHMENT style and negatively with avoidant and ambivalent ATTACHMENT STYLES. Multivariate regression analysis showed that ambivalent, avoidant and secure ATTACHMENT STYLES could explain 25% and 17% of variability in emotional intelligence among female and male participants respectively.

Abstract:

This study examined the relationship between the ATTACHMENT STYLES and marital satisfaction. 159 (81 females & 78 males) randomly selected high-school and junior high-school teachers, all married and resided in the city of Taybad, Iran, completed the Relationship Adult ATTACHMENT Scale (Collins & Read, 1990), the ATTACHMENT to Mother Questionnaire (Raja-ei et al., 2006), and the Enriching and Nurturing Relationship Issues, Communication and Happiness questionnaire (Olson et al., 1987; Revised by Soleimanian, 1994). Data showed significant a positive correlation between marital satisfaction and secure ATTACHMENT style (r = 0.53), but negative correlations with avoidant (r = -0.28) and ambivalent (r = -0.38) ATTACHMENT STYLES. Adult ATTACHMENT STYLES explained 52% and ATTACHMENT to mother STYLES accounted for 29% of the variance in marital satisfaction. Males and females were not significantly different in terms of level of marital satisfaction.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between ATTACHMENT STYLES and homesickness in a sample of Tehran University students. One hundred and forty five students (84 girls, 61 boys) were included in this study. Participants were asked to complete the Adult ATTACHMENT Inventory (AAI) and the Homesickness Scale (HS). Analysis of the data involved both descriptive and inferential statistics including means, standard deviations, correlation coefficient, t-test, and analysis of variance. The results revealed that ATTACHMENT STYLES were associated with homesickness. Students with secure ATTACHMENT style described themselves as experiencing less homesickness than students with insecure ATTACHMENT STYLES. Girls had higher scores on the Homesickness Scale than boys. Secure ATTACHMENT style is supposed to decrease on the Homesickness Scale than boys. Secure ATTACHMENT style is supposed to decrease levels of homesickness through mechanisms such as ''affect regulation'', ''security'', and ''replacement'' of new relations and emotional bonds in stressful situations.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to predict students’ ATTACHMENT STYLES Based on Parents Parenting STYLES in isfahan city. The research method was descriptive correlation type. The statistical population included all high school female students in Isfahan city and the sample included 302 persons who were chosen by random multiple cluster sampling method. The tools of experimental were included parenting STYLES questionnaire of Baumrind and adult ATTACHMENT questionnaire of Hazan and Shaver. The acquired data of questionnaires were analyzed by using Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis and step by step analysis. The results showed that among subscales ATTACHMENT STYLES, there was positive and meaningful relationship among ATTACHMENT style secure with parenting style authoritative and ATTACHMENT style ambivalent with parenting style permissive but there was negative and meaningful relationship among ATTACHMENT style avoidant with parenting style authoritative. The results of regression analysis showed that parenting STYLES were convenient predictors for ATTACHMENT STYLES.

Abstract:

This study examines whether the different STYLES of parenting through the creation of different ATTACHMENT STYLES can be effecttive in marital infidelity proneness. Participants in the study were 268 married students, aged ranging 20 to 46, who were selected by cluster random sampling method based on gender and educational groups. Data were collected by parenting STYLES questionnaire, ATTACHMENT STYLES questionnaire, and infidelity proneness questionnaire. The data was analyzed using correlation and path analysis. The results show that authoritative parenting style by creating a secure ATTACHMENT plays no role in infidelity proneness. Authoritarian, permissive, and neglectful parenting STYLES through the creation of insecure ATTACHMENT have effects in infidelity proneness. This study emphasizes on the fundamental role of parenting STYLES and ATTACHMENT STYLES in the handling of marital bright future and recommends parents to learn authoritative parenting style and change their authoritative, permissive, and neglectful ones.
